should have said:- there was a “post” some time ago with Google Earth tools etc
this looks good as well and it is supposed to work in GE http://www.iconico.com/protractor/ it must be “out there” somewhere on the web
or try this, it is supposed to work over GE, will give it a try myself now
- as for importing jpg, png etc into GE, as long as they are lat/lon and WGS84 and you have the four N, E, S, W corner coordinates you can add an image overlay into GE , play with the transparency etc and then save it as a kmz file (which is just your raster file and kml file in a compressed format).
Global Mapper can also do this for you and will generate kml or kmz plus tile the image to make it work better in GE … plus you can change the projection and datum very easily in GM
hope it goes well
sorry, here is the other link I should have put in http://www.markus-bader.de/MB-Ruler/
bit of a crap poster aren’t I! … new to this
Thanks for your guide

Many thanks for that, I tried the tool off this site http://www.markus-bader.de/MB-Ruler/ it is worth a look at, very capable but you need to look at help file and figure everything out. PM me if you want some help with doing the jpg to kmz conversion
Shahram, here is the “Google Ultimate Collection” that a_bshmaf posted a while back, this had a protractor for GE in it, the download link is still up http://www.5inetop.cn/viewthread.php?tid=804&extra=page%3D2 . Cheers.
Yes I saw that but it is not so easy to use it.
anyway thanks
