My friend if you looking for DEM " terrian data " then check this site its a SRTM V3 data with correction,

This is a 100m resolution and its in Geotif format , need to be change to DEM using Globalmapper .then it can repreoject to plane or netact ..

I already have SRTM data - i post that lint to free mapping data for beginners, which dont have some data to try game with Aircom Enterprise or other software. Anyway tanks for the link, but i like NASA SRTM FTP server directly.. Regards.
The best available SRTM 3 DTM’s for the world are available here http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/ A lot of work has been done on the SRTM data to tidy it up and patch holes, it also states that the 1/2 pixel shift problem is definetly fixed. Available in ASCII or TIFF format.

Try this address ftp://srtm.csi.cgiar.org//SRTM_v41/SRTM_Data_GeoTIFF/ for example . It’s veeeryyy slooooow.. Use ftp client like FlashFXP.
